Tom Reed serves as the CEO of Naples Health Care Associates, a position he has held since he co-founded the Company in 2001. He is responsible for the strategic direction and management of the Company. Under his leadership NHCA has established itself as a recognized leader in personalized medicine and introduced many new innovations.
Tom has over 35 years of direct experience developing, funding and managing health care service businesses. Earlier in his career, he founded Merrill Lynch’s health industry financing group which became the national leader in providing funding to hospitals. In 1982, Tom founded American health Capital, Inc. in partnership with the nations’ largest not-for-profit hospital system, Voluntary Hospitals of America. Additional partners included the Mellon Bank, Aetna and Baxter. At American Health Capital, he pioneered the development of financial guarantees for hospitals through the Health Industry Bond Insurance Program completing $3 billion in financial guarantees.
Mr. Reed was the founder and CEO of VHA Enterprises where he oversaw the development and management of numerous health care service businesses including Partners National Health Plans, a managed care joint venture with Aetna, as well as companies involved with home health care, nursing homes, retirement center development and management, mobile diagnostics, and physician services. Mr. Reed also founded the National Committee for Quality Health Care and was a founding trustee of the Healthcare Leadership Council.
