Saving Lives. Extending Lives. Improving Quality of Lives.

Naples Health Care Associates

Naples Health Care Associates was co-founded by Tom Reed in 2001 with the fundamental belief that a better model of delivering high quality, coordinated, primary care medical services was needed. Tom was inspired by the death of his father, who died after open heart surgery at the age 84. Despite his many years of experience in the health care industry, Tom had been completely frustrated in trying to help his father navigate the health care system in his time of need. After analyzing what he could have done differently to help his father, Tom realized what was most needed was an experienced primary care physician to serve as the patient’s personal advocate. What was needed was a doctor who knew all about the patient’s personal health status who could coordinate care and help make the critical decisions. Tom realized that his dad was not alone in this need. Traditional medicine was allowing people to fall between the cracks and there was a broad need to provide a higher level of coordinated service. Thus was born the idea of Naples Health Care Associates ("NHCA"), and for ten years now, the physicians and staff of NHCA have been saving lives, extending lives, and improving the quality of lives for over a thousand patients/members.

In the beginning, concierge medicine was primarily focused on improving access. With a much smaller number of patients for each physician to take care of, patients were able to access their physicians when they were needed, and physicians had much more time to better understand their patients’ needs and do a better job diagnosing their problems.

Over time the role of the concierge physician, as the patients’ personal health care advocate has taken on an increasingly important role as the health delivery system has become more complex and specialized. At NHCA, our physicians coordinate all of the patients’ medical needs and have personal health coordinators assigned to each patient to assist them. NHCA physicians arrange for sub specialists when necessary, coordinate care in the hospital, and when appropriate, arrange for care at national centers of medical excellence.

Perhaps most importantly, our job is to help our members/patients live longer and better lives by focusing on wellness, prevention and longevity. At NHCA we develop a personalized wellness plan for each member, including the coordination of use of vitamins and supplements.
